Rahu is North Node of Moon and is the head of the demonic snake that swallows the Sun or the Moon causing eclipses, Rahu according to Hindu scriptures. He is depicted in art as a dragon with no body riding a chariot drawn by eight black horses. He is a Tamas Asura who does his best to plunge any area of one’s life he controls into chaos. The Rahu kala is considered inauspicious.

Astronomically, Ketu and Rahu denote the points of intersection of the paths of the Sun and the Moon as they move on the celestial sphere. Therefore, Rahu and Ketu are respectively called the north and the south lunar nodes. The fact that eclipses occur when Sun and Moon are at one of these points gives rise to the story of the swallowing of the Sun and the Moon.

Normal motion  of Rahu is considered auspicious provided he is not placed in trik bhavs and not afflicted. The dispositor of Rahu also matters, if afflicted then Rahu becomes very strong and depending upon the ownership he gives the results. In Tamil Classics it is said that ‘Rahu is Rog Harnam and Ketu is Rog Karnam’ There is mis concept of Rahu that it gives disease, but it brings out any disease in the body and Ketu is disease karka and gives disease. Rahu should not be afflicted in the Chart and in Transit.

There is a story for the Rahu and Ketu According to legend, during the Samudra manthan, the asura Rahu drank some of the divine nectar, But before the nectar could pass his throat, Mohini (the female avatar of Vishnu) cut off his head. The head, however, remained immortal and is called Rahu, while the rest of the body became Ketu. It is believed that this immortal head occasionally swallows the Luminaries, causing eclipses. Then, the Sun or Moon passes through the opening at the neck, ending the eclipse.

Rahu is regarded as similar to Saturn in its effect. Smoky blue is its colour, instinctual and animalistic its nature. Rahu is interested only in achieving all that gives pleasure, and even if it achieves all it wants, it is never satisfied (which is true of our animalistic nature). Rahu in Aquarius is also strong since it owns the Satbisha Nakshatra and the 11th house of the natural Zodiac  for our desires . Rahu is Up Karka for Marriage and how marriage runs is all depicted by Rahu in the chart. It should not be Stationary and in Direct motion other wise it turns the table upside down. This affliction of Rahu is most dangerous apart from its being afflicted by other means as mentioned above.

The Affliction to Rahu therefore brings disaster specially when it’s motion is disturbed when close to Sun or Moon specially around the Eclipses. Although Rahu rules no sign of the zodiac, the zodiacal sign Virgo is its sign. Virgo is in fact assigned to Mercury, but Rahu being akin to Saturn and Mercury being a friend of Saturn, Rahu thus has authority over Virgo. Friendly signs are Gemini, Virgo, Libra, Sagittarius, and Pisces. Cancer and Leo are its enemy signs. Mercury, Venus, and Saturn are friendly planets. Rahu is an enemy of Sun, Moon, and Mars Rahu gives auspicious results in Taurus and Libra.

At the time of demonetization on the 8th Nov. 2016 Rahu had disturbed motion for 8 days. During the Start of Wars Rahu has disturbed motion. Rahu-Ketu have a cycle of 18.5 years and when they come on the natal Rahu or Ketu it is time for Transformation negative or Positive according to its placement. Hence every 9 years there will be transformation due to Rahu and Ketu. Normally when Rahu-Ketu change signs the diseases in the body are diagnosed specially when Rahu is beneficially placed it will cure and if Negatively placed the disease will come out and will linger on. As per Tamil Classics Rahu in the 8th house of the natural Zodiac  brings out Cancer from the body if placed in the sign Scorpio and dasha at birth is also connected to 8th house of the natal chart.

Normal Motion of Rahu is always retrograde but 2 twice a month Rahu or Ketu meet Moon or even Sun in transit and try to swallow the Luminaries since they are his enemies and Rahu behaves like a snake and things are reversed. Near eclipses it is in Stationary and Direct motion for a very long time and brings disaster on earth. For Example the Rape and Murder of the Bengal Trainee Doctor took place when Rahu on the 9th-10th August 2024 was in Stationary motion and then in direct motion till the 14th August 2024. When Rahu is afflicted one may die of Suffocation, Rape and Murder and the episode may remain a mystery. The culprits may be caught but the episode may remain clueless since the area where it takes place there may be a curtain  or shady place. 12th Sept. 2024 Rahu was stationary and brought a boom in the Stock Markets went up by 1600 points and settled at 14 39 points since on 13th Sept. 2024 is changing it’s motion and there may be a fall in the Market. Most Critical days when it is Stationary and it stationary on the 18th, 20th, 23rd, 25th, 28th and 30th Sept 2024 prone to Tornados, War Escalation, Blasts, Havoc from Rains, Floods. Similarly in Oct. 2024 also it is stationary on the 11th, 17th,  most explosive days. It could prove like a snake bite even. Sept. 2024 will be prone to Tornados and Rain  and Water disaster with magnitude across the World since Rahu in totally watery sign.Diseases from Water are  also not ruled out.
