Domestic equity indices slumped on Friday afternoon, with benchmark BSE Sensex losing over 1,100 points. It touched an intra-day low of 35,993.64 points, against the previous close of 37,121.22 points. The broader Nifty50 cracked below 11,000 mark. Yes Bank led sharp fall in banking stocks. However, the indices recovered soon after the sharp fall. At 1:32 pm, the S&P BSE Sensex tanked 143.74 points or 0.39 per cent to trade at 36,977.58. The broader Nifty50 was trading at 11,156.50, down 77.85 points or 0.69 per cent.
Yes Bank was the top loser in the indices today by tumbling as much as 34.03 per cent in early trade on BSE today after the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) asked its managing director and CEO Rana Kapoor to step down after an extended term till January 31, 2019. At 1:47 pm, shares of the private sector bank were trading at Rs. 237.95 on the BSE, down 25.29 per cent from the previous close
Other losers on Sensex pack in the session were Sun Pharma, Infosys, Hindustan Unilever, Adani Ports, Maruti. Other laggards on Nifty pack were IndiaBulls Housing Finance, UPL, Bajaj Finance and Tech Mahindra.
