Heavy rains and floods are causing havoc in Varanasi. Heavy rains lashed the Mandhateshwar Mahadev temple near the Bharat Mata idol in the Kashi Vishwanath temple complex on Tuesday afternoon. The urn on the top of the temple was destroyed by lightning. The top of the ridge was damaged by lightning. The weather has been deteriorating sharply since Tuesday afternoon. Lightning struck with heavy rain in the area around 5:30 p.m. At that time there was a large number of devotees in Kashi Vishwanath Dham and nearby temples.
