Around 14,000 new Covid-19 cases were reported in the country in the last 24 hours, 86 per cent of them from five states, the Union Health Ministry has said.
According to the ministry’s data, at 6,971, Maharashtra reported the highest number of cases, followed by Kerala (4,070), Tamil Nadu (452), Karnataka (413), and Punjab (348).

After Maharashtra, now the Rajasthan government has imposed Section 144 in Jodhpur till March 21 due to a rise in the number of COVID-19 cases. The government has made it mandatory to allow no more than 100 people to attend weddings and public gatherings. According to an order issued by the police, only essential services, schools and colleges have been allowed to function. Jodhpur has recorded a total of 457 cases and 9 COVID-19 related deaths till now.
