The crash site was 10 km (6.2 mi) from the flight’s intended destination. According to an eyewitness, he “saw the helicopter coming down… it hit one tree and was on fire. There were plumes of smoke when I ran over. In minutes, the fire was higher than my house.” Villagers threw water over the fire in attempt to put it out.
