As Ayodhya seers demand construction of the Ram temple after the Bharatiya Janata Party’s big poll victory, NDA ally Shiv Sena is also stepping up pressure.
Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray along with 18 party MPs will likely to visit Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh on June 15, before the beginning of Parliament’s monsoon session, sources said on Wednesday.
The party’s arrival in Ayodhya will be on the same day when the seers are expected to pass a resolution asking for the construction of Ram Mandir from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
According to input, Uddhav Thackeray and Sena MPs will likely be in Ayodhya from June 15 till June 17.
Harshal Pradhan, a close aide of Uddhav Thackeray and media in-charge of the party, said, “It is true that Thackeray has decided to visit Ayodhya. The plan is to visit before the parliament session starts on June 17.
“There will be an announcement about the visit soon. Uddhav-ji will elaborate on the visit and the party’s stand,” he said.
This will be Uddhav Thackeray’s second visit to Ayodhya to mount pressure for the Ram Mandir demand. In the past, the Sena chief has insisted on the demand for the temple to be built at the disputed site in Ayodhya as soon as possible on several occasions.
The ties between the Sena and its ally BJP were under strain before the Lok Sabha 2019 elections. Later, the Sena once again stitched up an alliance with the BJP for polls, but maintained that the Ram temple was an important issue for it.

A five judge constitution bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi said they have received the report from Justice Kalifulla in which the panel has sought extension of time till August 15 to complete mediation proceedings.
